Novosibirsk region provides truly limitless opportunities for lovers of outdoor activities. Hiking, rafting on Siberian rivers, rock trekking or caving – there are many options!
Berd Rocks
One of the most beautiful places in the region is located in the Iskitimsky district, not far from the village of Novososedovo. The natural monument is a steep rocky area on the right bank of the Berd River. A well-equipped eco-trail leads to the top of Zveroboy rock. The observation deck offers a beautiful view of the winding river and the rocky mountains covered with forest.
The Berd River is used for rafting in kayaks, catamarans, and rubber boats. The course is quite calm, there are no steep rapids, so the water trip is quite accessible even for beginners. The most picturesque section of the route runs between the villages of Kinterep and Legostaevo.
Belovsky waterfall
Unlike most waterfalls, Belovsky is located in a flat area, far from mountains and hills. Natural attraction owes its appearance to human activity. As a result of large-scale coal mining, groundwater formed an artificial lake, from which the waterfall flows.
There is a small birch forest nearby where you can pitch a tent. This is a great place for fishing, swimming and just relaxing in nature.
Barsukovskaya Cave
In recent years, a new tourist destination has begun to develop in the region – speleotourism. There are 7 karst caves in the Novosibirsk region. All of them belong to the Salair Ridge – low-mountain upland in the mountains of southern Siberia.
The most famous cave, Barsukovskaya, is located on the territory of the Maslyaninsky district along the right bank of the Ukrop River. The cave with a depth of 19 m and a total length of 195 m has a corridor-labyrinth structure. The main course gradually decreases and at a depth of 15 meters goes to a fork. The cave has a grotto and a system of ring passages. Underground topography and orienteering competitions often take place here.
Karakansky Forest
A wonderful pine forest is located on the right bank of the Novosibirsk reservoir, which is also called the Ob Sea. The forest has the cleanest air, so even a short walk will give you a boost of vivacity and good mood. Or you can take a tent and go on a full hike for a few days.
Karakansky pine forest is rich in berries and mushrooms; in the season, full baskets of boletus are gathered here. The Ob Sea attracts fishermen who take carp, pike perch and bream as trophies.
